When I stand inside these hand-crafted houses mid-deconstruction (see tomorrow's post) I'm amazed by how beautiful they look in a skeletal state. Works of art. Flowers seem appropriate. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/home-and-garden/gardening/flower-house-detroit/article27319110/

Photo - Happy New Year to all friends and supporters of this page! Thanks to Kelly Whitty who sent me the following images with this note: "I found these frail newspaper treasures today, as I was packing away my Christmas decorations back into my attic crawl space. One of the many reasons I love living in an older home in Vancouver, such history."

Photo - 2735 West 2nd Avenue: NOT DEMOLISHED Thanks to Sal Robinson for these photos and for saving this home. Of it she writes, "the westernmost of three houses in a row built by Bentley & Wear in 1912. Joseph Bentley was a mason; I haven't found out anything about Tom Wear. First occupant was Mrs. Isabella Robinson (no relation), who lived there until the late 1920s."
